A quick note — and thank you!
The Spy wants to do more long-reads and investigations, so we're tweaking our publication schedule
Morning — a slight change in our regular format today, if you’ll forgive a bit of housekeeping.
🧹 We started London Spy because we didn’t think anyone was giving Londoners the high quality journalism they deserve. The Evening Standard’s a state at the moment — anyone who actually still grabs a copy can see it’s become a strange blend of national politics and celebrity gossip, with London news relegated to the back pages. And don’t get us started on MyLondon… At the time of writing a “huge gaffe” from Dancing on Ice is on their home page?
Anyway, the point is nobody’s publishing proper long-reads and investigations on the city’s biggest issues and weirdest stuff. And we really want to do more of that. So we’re tweaking our publication schedule, to give us more time outside of our day jobs for nose-to-the-ground reporting and writing.
You’ll still find your usual Spy briefings in your inbox on Thursdays and Sundays. But for the time being we’re earmarking Tuesdays instead for bigger projects. Expect deep dives, scoops and oddities. We’re really excited to share our first with you in the coming weeks.
We’re extremely grateful to everyone who’s subscribed so far. We launched the Spy roughly two months ago, and it’s just been amazing to see us build up a dedicated readership already. So thank you all!
It’s also probably a good time to mention that we’d love to hear from you. Whether it’s feedback or ideas, feel free to drop us a line at londonspy@substack.com.
See you later in the week!
Love,
The Spy 🕵️
